I learnt about the launch of First Time Leadership and bought a copy. Surprisingly, It’s a great read! I like the way it’s organised with 30 authentic stories inspired by different people with different leadership challenges. You can relate to several of these stories and situations easily.

The authors also covered leaders at different levels of seniority and included workplaces like hospital, manufacturing shop floors and even a mining site! The book is easy to read and covered a lot of grounds. The self-reflection at the end of each chapter inspires further discovery.

I immediately purchased the book when it became available and eagerly awaited its arrival in the post. I was not disappointed! Easy to read with great insights from a wide range of successful leaders.

I loved the way the sections were compiled; and that it would be highly valuable for wherever the reader was on the leadership path: a wannabe, a newbie or an experienced hand. Just the thing to have in your library to further build vital leadership capacity.

I have been in the digital marketing industry for the last 32 years – and being in this industry – we sometimes have teams of 5-20 to manage, came across this book though my very long time close friend Avi Liran, I got the book as a show of support initially but am so glad I got the book – I’ve learnt so much about leadership and how to manage people and their expectations better – this is a simple to read and understand book with funny anecdotes which made me laugh as I could relate to some of the learnings. This is book not just for leaders on how to manage a team but also how to think a little differently and seeing things different. Everyone should get a copy and learn something.

One day we get promoted into our first management position and suddenly our years of expert knowledge are less relevant as we are having to manage the complexities of humans working together.

That’s where this epic compendium comes in handy. You get to absorb what took Daniel and Avi years to accumulate, understand, distill, and refine. Wisdom from more than 200 leaders who have been there and done that.

This book is an excellent lens through which to look at your leadership problems and come up with solutions. Chances are high that this book will affect your life in ways you cannot list or know. You definitely won’t be the person in the end who you were at the start.

It might be a great idea for HR departments to gift this book to anyone who gets promoted into their first leadership position. The ROI for the organization will be immense.

I’ve spent the last decade being in the learning and development function, starting from operations before moving into curriculum design and delivery before leading teams.

The description of the book felt relatable while in my previous role and saw the opportunity to share it with my peers. I reached out to Daniel and had the pleasure of meeting him in person with an autographed book.

The book contains a combination of concepts reinforced with an interesting storyline which easily allow one to internalize and apply. It covers a range of scenarios which a young leader might encounter and with suggested ways to find a workaround, while maintaining an overview of the problem and leading the team toward their goal.

I would recommend this book as a good read to anyone; new or experienced leaders as it provides both a good foundation and reminder to remind as humane as possible, regardless the problem at hand.

I initially heard about First time leadership when prepping for the International Swim School Spectacular.

My favorite section is that on the collaborator. Collaboration is absolutely critical to the success of these operations. There is the section on delegation, and that's one that I've always found to be a strength and weakness for me.

No matter where you are in your leadership journey, something in there for everyone. It's absolutely the perfect book to be able to lend out to your key people and your emerging leaders in your own operation.
